Our women’s gathering at Core Creek is affectionately known as “WINGS”, Women In God’s Service! Our fellowship is open to all women who want to gather in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ for service to God, our community, and the world. We gather each month, usually on the 2nd Tuesday evening, at 7:00 to enjoy a time of spiritual refreshment and to share our talents and abilities with each other as we explore God’s love and calling in our lives. This gathering of women uplifts and encourages those who attend, helping one another see how God gives us opportunities to serve Him and our communities in real ways as we support ministries of His kingdom with regular financial assistance and prayer, through active participation, and by planning, creating, and building!
Our outreach missions include various missionaries and ZOE (Zimbabwe Orphan Endeavor); local ministries include Gabriel Babies, Domestic Violence Program, Boys & Girls Club, Pregnancy Care Center, and Broad Street Clinic. For Backpack Blessings we donate money and collect plastic bags and then join monthly with other churches to pack food for Carteret County school children who lack food over the weekends. Our focus is to provide for the basic needs of women and children and to lead them into a closer relationship with Christ.
To raise money we usually hold two Chicken & Pastry dinners in the winter and a fall festival/yard sale/bake sale/food sale in November. WINGS often works in conjunction with our Methodist Men’s group and other members of the congregation in support of these ministries, projects, and fundraisers that benefit from joint effort. Our efforts can be both demanding and time consuming but the fellowship is awesome!
